Watch: 'Y’all gonna make me cry,' Kyrie Irving almost tears up as Mavs locker room demand speech after Game 6 win
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Despite Luka Doncic being the face of the team, the season was special for veteran, Kyrie Irving. The star had one of the best comebacks as the former champion is back in the conference finals after seven years. To make the victory more special, Irving did it with the Dallas Mavericks.

The Dallas Mavericks have fully embraced Kyrie Irving since last year, and the star looks happy with his new teammates. After the team won the hard-fought battle of game 6, Irving’s teammates demanded a speech from the star in the locker room. The 32-year-old could not help but get emotional in front of his team.

You're gonna make me cry man. Don't do that. I just wanna thank each one of you man. All your sacrifices, all the things that you guys are doing when no one's watching... Keep the positivity going, job's not finished. We can definitely celebrate this one, this was hard. Kyrie Irving after Game 6

The chemistry between the team has been incredible on and off the court during this series. The game 6 win was a team effort as all the players contributed and did their part up to the mark until the last moment. Irving was also a huge part of the last-minute win, as he scored crucial points in the fourth quarter.

The star ended up with 22 points without attempting a single free throw in the win. The win was certainly a special one for Irving, as he is now undefeated in elimination games throughout his career. The star will now compete in his first Western Conference finals.

Kyrie Irving got emotional after his 14-0 closeout games record

Irving is now 14-0 in closeout games, which is the best record in the NBA so far. The star’s journey has been full of ups and downs, including this season where he had to face some injuries at the beginning. But the Mavs guard found the momentum and has now reached the championship semifinals.

After the win, Irving reflected on the tough second-round series and his painful journey in the season so far. The star thanked his former teammates upon being asked about his ability to win the crucial games by ESPN’s Malika Andrews.

I think it's just the preparation, and it's the moment. You get to the point where you have the opportunity to closeout a team, you wanna take full advantage of it. I'm doing my best not to be emotional right now because this is the hardest series I ever had to go into Kyrie Irving on ESPN

The team has to perform even better in the next round, as both potential competitors are tough teams. The Mavericks will face either the defending champions the Denver Nuggets or the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are currently tied. The Western Conference finals will take place next week on May 23rd.
